Roxio Streamer Transforms Your PC into a Media Server

Of interest to media buffs, Roxio today announced it has begun shipping its Roxio Streamer software, which purportedly turns your PC in a "powerful media server." Or in other words, it makes easy work out of shuttling your music, photos, and videos from your PC to other devices, both near and far.

"Roxio Streamer is the most efficient way to enjoy and share personal media on your home PC," said Sean Penn, Vice President, Consumer Products, Roxio. "You simply drop the digital photos, video, or music that you want to access or share into a folder and it becomes instantly available from any web-enabled device. That's ideal if you are travelling and you want to enjoy your favorite music or movies or if you want to provide an easy, secure way for family and friends to enjoy your content."

Key features include an unlimited number of user accounts to dole out to family and friends; on-the-go access to your Roxio Streamer library from any mobile phone; publish photos directly to Facebook or Flickr; remotely share digital media with digital picture frames and other RSS clients; a 3D Wall Cooliris interface; and secure FTP access.

Roxio Streamer runs $50 and includes a year's worth of Premium Features, after which you'll have to pony up $20/year.
