This is built with the new "Desktop Replacement Class" that is being rolled out by several of the high shops. I saw it a couple months ago in the Smooth Creations 18.4. This one however has i7 and GTX285s as an option, while costing less money. Of course, Smooth Creations doesn't update their website as often as they should and does a lot better over the phone.

I'm not sure how many people actually know this, but I read in an aritcle that Origin pc's are actually what Alienware used to be, before they went down the tubes. Same guys who started Origin Worked for Alienware (may have even been the same founders.) The pricing as inftinity mentioned are reasonable as well. And the neuron type graphic looks pretty slick.

I think most of us here that read the origin articles on HH should know that the founders of origin use to work for alien ware, it was mentioned in one of the articles on this forum but it does not say they were the alien ware founders.

the EON18 looks very impressive! sadly its nothing i can currently afford :( lol

I thought it said the guys who own origin used to be some of the owners of Alienware, until it was sold to Dell.

Either way this looks like a very nice gaming laptop. I also like the prices Origin hits as a custom PC builder. Yes it's more than I would pay to build a PC myself, but I would not be building it, nor would I be my warranty support which also seems to be done great there.

Plus as I mentioned the prices which from what I can tell are cheaper in many cases considerably than what you would pay at most if not all custom PC builders with a support department.

The unit gibbersome won on the last contest (desktop not laptop), looked very impressive on the inside from the pictures I saw on there site. I would say I would definitely give Origin the upside benefit of the doubt if I was buying a custom PC or laptop.

You can also just ask gibbersome what he thinks of there workmanship. as he's experienced with them.

Not a huge fan of gaming on laptops.  Reasons such as size/weight, cooling difficulties, power consumption, and limited expandability are a pretty big turn-off.  I'd prefer a laptop that is slim and durable and stick with desktops for gaming, but these definitely seem like a great option for those that do laptop game.
