Origin PC's EON17 is a Beastly Desktop Replacement

There's no mistaking Origin PC's new EON17 notebook for exactly what it is: a full-on desktop replacement with more bells and whistles than, well, a bells and whistles store. Believe it or not, the 17.3-inch HD screen (1920x1080) is probably the tamest feature on the EON17's spec sheet. Want the full rundown? Grab a hanky first -- not for you, but for the desktop system you're reading this on.

The EON17 is everything you make it out to be. Don't have a budget to work with? In that case, it's worth mentioning you can deck out this desktop replacement with up an Intel Core i7 980X six-core processor, two Nvidia GeForce GTX 480M videocards, up to 24GB of tri-channel DDR3 memory, and up to three hard drives or SSDs.

"We've noticed growing demand from the Origin community for a mobile high-performance solution that doesn't force you to compromise," said Kevin Wasielewski, CEO and Co-Founder of Origin. "The EON17 offers the flexibility of a notebook with unparalleled desktop computing power giving gamers and professionals the best of both worlds."

The configurable EON17 is available now starting at $2,500. Where you take it from there is entirely up to you.

what is the battery life, one minute?

I doesn't use batterie... it's powered by a nuclear reactor. :-)

At that price it should be configured as a Workstation with a couple Quadros:P

It is nice, but at that price It would make more sense to have a desktop that could be upgraded for longer shelf life?

Well if nvidia's external graphics really take off, then this thing could become "upgradable"

External graphics cards could prove to be a simple upgrade for desktop owners too.
