You guys are soo lucky , I wish I got my hands on a GTX 280. |
|
It always happens, I finally decide to buy a new card a few months ago and here we go another faster one ... guess ill just have to buy this one too ;) |
|
It will be a little while before I can work my way up to a 280 but for me a 260 would be fine!Good reveiw~ |

The most powerful single-GPU card has arrived. And finally, the 8800 Ultra is usurped (the 9800GTX didn't do that). Hella expensive though. ATi's offering's should be interesting. No one is expecting performance this high, but with the 4870 going to be half the price of a GTX 280 it'll be interesting.

Well as I mentioned in the 4870 article I was a bit behind the times -- i just read through the article and I am indeed impressed by the performance output of the 280 for sure (although 3-way SLI seems to be bottlenecked somewhat in many non-synthetic tests you guys ran) Anyway, I was WOWed until I saw the power consumption under a load -- I have been asking for a while "why would anyone ever need a 1kw PSU???" well.......I guess now I know, lol. Did you guys have a secondary drive-bay PSU in your system as a "just-in-case" factor? (referring to the 3-way-SLI GTX 280 setup you had)
