Motorola’s Bionic Smartphone May Launch Later Than Originally Expected

Motorola’s next hot smartphone for Verizon Wireless, the Droid Bionic, could be facing delays. According to Reuters, Motorola Mobility has changed the launch target date for the Bionic to this summer. A summer launch could potentially mean the phone will make its debut a quarter later than originally expected.

In January, Motorola promised the Bionic would hit shelves in the second quarter. Recently, however, Motorola said it plans to sell the Bionic this summer. Summer officially starts June 21, which is just days before the end of the second quarter.

Reasons for the potential delay include a possible change to the Bionic’s form after it was shown off at CES in January. It also appears that Motorola may add new features to the phone before it launches.

The Droid Bionic will have 512MB of RAM, a dual-core processor, front- and rear-facing cameras, a 4.3-inch qHD display, and more.

I've been waiting for this phone or the Galaxy S II, every time I get excited they get delayed! I guess if the "new features" are worth it I shouldn't complain. It looks like a killer phone, can't wait for it to come out.

Hmmm. I wonder what the battery life is going to be like with all that power. This has been the biggest problem I face with smartphones particularly Android based ones.

Yeah I have heard this one may be dropped to 3rd quarter in several places. It is a shame to as this on seems to be one of the best Verizon has on tap period. I know a bunch jumped on the Tbolt, but this one from the beginning I have seen as a much better phone. Although it is with Verizon which I will be leaving for my nest phone it is still the best they have coming. There Droid x2 seems to be nice to, but I think I like the Bioninc better over all.

Man, dual core phone processors are appearing on every phone I see.

Next thing you'll know they'll become standard on all phones.

Yeah Taylor I imagine that is the next step. The cool thing many don't realize is a multi core processor can be more efficient. I might even clock mine down a notch if I had one with dual cores. If you dropped it down to 750 or 800 rather than 1 ghz running together would still be considerably better than a single core 1 ghz substantially. It would also probably lengthen battery life for a charge by at least an hour or two making a smart phone more of a all day phone.
