Touched an iPad lately? What about a car navigation system? What about a Windows Phone? To be honest, most modern touchscreens are fairly responsive. It's not often that a high-quality device with a touch panel these days suffers from notable lag. Some of the old resistive panels could use some gusto, but the iPhone for example seems adequately fast. But it's not fast enough, says Microsoft. The company's research labs are working on a new touch screen system that cuts lag to just one millisecond, well below the threshold of human recognition. If this technology could be ported to touch panel devices, the entire usage scenario would change. Swipes would be faster, and chores would be finished in less time. Ready to see what the future holds? There's a video for that.
