"We recently announced that, going forward, Windows Phone will be the focus of our mobile music and video strategy, and that we will no longer be producing Zune players. So what does this mean for our current Zune users? Absolutely nothing. Your device will continue to work with Zune services just as it does today. And we will continue to honor the warranties of all devices for both current owners and those who buy our very last devices. Customer service has been, and will remain a top priority for us."

Until smartphones have the battery life to last more than a couple of hours when running music/video the iPod will stick around. It does not surprise me that the Zune is going bye bye, hopefully for consumers the existing stock of them will go on great sales for black Friday maybe. |

"This is certainly news to me, I though Zune was dead a long time ago, I did not know MS was still producing them this year, go figure. Anyhow, Yes I was a first generation Zune owner, pretty cool device at the time , but , my phones took over that duty, no need to carry an extra device." |

Shame... The Zune HD was a good device and while it may have had it's faults it was still a decent competitor to the iPod Touch. I guess the iPhone 4S was the death kneel to Zune, that and the fact that the iOS devices sell way more then Microsoft would ever dream to achieve, I guess Zune didn't have a chance at all really... Despite it being a good device... |

Mixed messages coming from MS, looks like Zune isn't dead yet... Have to wonder if this is just a tactic to drum up interest in Zune... Perhaps they're planning a update soon but it's all sounding suspicious now. http://liliputing.com/2011/10/microsoft-the-zune-hds-not-actually-dead-yet.html |
