MSI Launches 17-inch GT780R and GX780 Laptops for Gamers

MSI continues to crank out new notebooks at a breakneck pace, the latest entries being a pair of laptops aimed at gamers. The GT780R and GX780 are both now shipping in North America and, unlike other gaming laptops, sport a full color backlit keyboard designed in collaboration with SteelSeries, a popular gaming peripherals manufacturer.

"Serious gamers understand that not all notebooks are created equally," said Andy Tung, vice president of sales, MSI US. "The GT780R and GX780 are built specifically for gamers, with a professionally-designed keyboard, plus top-of-the-line graphics and processing power from NVIDIA and Intel."

Sporting a brushed black aluminum finish, the GX780 starts at $1,550 and includes a 17-inch Full HD screen (1920x1080), Intel Core i7 2630QM processor, a generous 12GB of DDR3 memory, 750GB hard drive, Nvidia GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 720p HD webcam, Dynaudio Premium Sound speakers, USB 3.0, HDMI, and MSI's TDE technology.

For those with a bigger budget, the GT780R ups the ante with 16GB of DDR3 memory, 1TB hard drive with RAID 0, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M graphics with 1.5GB of GDDR5 memory.
