Lenovo Adds Touch To ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Lenovo announced the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch. This ultrabook is optimized for use with Windows 8 and features touch capabilities. The X1 Carbon Touch weighs 3.4 pounds and measures just 20.8mm thick (about 0.82 inches). Thanks to its carbon fiber construction, the ultrabook offers strength and durability not found on other notebooks.

The X1 Carbon Touch's 14-inch display (1600x900) supports 10-point multi-touch. The ultrabook also features a large multi-gesture glass touchpad. Processor options include Intel Core i5 and i7 options. For security, the X1 Carbon Touch offers an integrated fingerprint reader, Trusted Platform Module, and BIOS encryption.  Mobile broadband 3G is also available on select models.

To compliment the X1 Carbon Touch's slender design, an optional slim 65W AC adapter is also available that measures 17mm thick and weighs 53% less than the standard AC adapter. The X1 Carbon Touch utilizes Rapid Charge Battery Technology to deliver 80% charge in 35 minutes. Lenovo claims the X1 Carbon Touch's battery can last for up to 8.2 hours on a charge.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is now available with prices starting at $1,499.
