LaCie Intros d2 Network And Big Disk Network

LaCie has been using the same general styling for years now, but considering just how successful it has been with the simple, classic silver, we guess there's no real hurry to reinvent the wheel...or the hard drive, as the case may be. Today, the storage outfit has announced the general availability of two new high-capacity Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions: the Big Disk Network and d2 Network.

Both devices are described as professional file servers which are optimized for users to instantly store, share, and back up files, from any PC or Mac on a wired or wireless network. The d2 Network supports up to 1.5TB capacity, while the Big Disk Network combines two drives in a RAID 0 setting, for up to 3TBs of storage. Both solutions are ideal for enthusiasts as well as small- to medium-sized businesses. There's also a standard USB port for adding additional storage to the mix if need be, and the d2 Network even throws in an eSATA connector.

Both Windows and Mac fans are taken care of on the software front, with LaCie bundling in Genie Backup Manager Pro for Windows and Intego Backup Manager Pro for Mac users, which allow customers to reliably and efficiently backup documents, emails, and other digital assets directly to their NAS device. For consumers scouting drives that go above and beyond the call of duty, you'll surely appreciate the BitTorrent support as well as compatibility with UPnP devices such as Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. The LaCie NAS solutions are available now, with the retail cost starting at $189.99 for d2 Network and $379.99 for Big Disk Network.
