LaCie's quality of design/build is suspect in my experience. I had a 500GB FireWire 400/800 backup drive that failed and they blamed it on my house current and refused to replace it. BTW: everything else in the house still works fine,.....go figure. Then it happened to my son's identical backup drive and they told him the same thing, faulty house power. I had him send me the unit and upon inspection, they both had a burned trace in the same place on the power circuitry board. I picked up two cheap-azz enclosures from newegg and pulled the drives out of the LaCie enclosures. The drives both work fine now and have been doing so for almost a year too,........... |
