LG Flex Officially Joins The Curved Smartphone Revolution

There's just no reason to deny the obvious: what we have here is an old-fashioned turf war. Merely days after Samsung introduced its first "curved" smartphone, the Galaxy Round, LG has made official the first "real" curved smartphone. It's no secret that LG and Samsung have been waging war on each other's product lines for years in a bid to be seen as South Korea's finest in consumer electronics, and the latest battle is most certainly here on the unique form-factor front.

LG's G Flex is being called the "world's first real curved smartphone" by none other than LG itself -- no doubt a shot across the bow to Samsung's Galaxy Round effort. This new device falls into the company's premium G series line, where the G2 finds itself slotted as well. Outside of the curved panel, the rear volume/power combo is also found here (a feature introduced on the G2), and features a massive 6-inch display. It relied on Plastic OLED (POLED), which touts Real RGB -- containing all three sub-pixels (red, green, and blue) in a single pixel.

The 3,500mAh battery should keep things humming for a very, very long while, and the Dual Window feature divides the wide 6-inch screen into two separate windows for more effective multitasking.

Internally, there's a 2.26GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor; a 450MHz Adreno 330 GPU; a 1280x720 screen resolution; 2GB of memory; 32GB of internal flash storage; a 13MP rear camera; a 2.1MP front-facing camera; Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean); LTE and LTE-A radios; Bluetooth 4.0; and a total weight of 177 grams.

The LG Flex will be available in Korea starting in November through all three major local carriers, but pricing has yet to be announced.
