So what makes this different from the patriot gauntlet node or any other similar device? |
|
Because it's compatible with Android iOS and Kindle does that mean it can be used by all 3 devices simultaneously or does it have to be optimized for just one? This is interesting but 128gb seems low in terms of storage (even though it's being contrasted to the 8-16gb of built in internal storage on most devices.) This seems like something that would be useful to use between mobile devices and mobile computers like laptops so the small storage capacity is a bit of a caveat. 2.5in drives have much higher capacities than 128gb and are still relatively inexpensive as well, why not just go with a larger size? I also don't understand whether this allows multiple devices to access content on the drive, or to transfer/share content to other devices through the drive? |
Assuming this is similar to the patriot gauntlet node, then I can answer a few questions here. 1. With the patriot gauntlet you're able to change out hard drives, therefore you can pick your size, this one appears to be sealed in the picture, but who knows. 2. The wireless function is good for just about everything. With the patriot you can connect over wi-fi, or through the LAN, therefore sharing anything you want between family members, or guest that come over with very little effort. 3. Um... for you last question, it does both. Basically think of this as a simple shared drive on your network. You can put a video on the wi-drive from your computer, then hop on your iPhone and transfer the video to your phone. Or you can also stream the files directly from the hard drive from up to 3 devices rather than transferring them.

Well this thing sounds ridiculously useful and appealing especially for people with multiple mobile devices with limited storage... IF it's anything like the Patriot Gauntlet Node anyhow. |
