IE8 Beta Soon?

IE8 Beta Soon?

Microsoft is readying a beta of their next generation Internet Explorer.

Microsoft says its new browser will support web standards better, provide more security and additional interface options.

In a Volish attempt to comply with standards, and not disrupt sites written with IE6 and IE7, it would seem that Microsoft is going to let developers "stay in or out of the web standards mode."

It should also be noted that a new version of Firefox is nearing completion.

I've never really had any problems with ie, but am well aware that many people swear by Firefox. If anyone fits that description, can you tell me why you feel ff is better? If you use something other than ie or ff, could tell me what and why you like it?

Thanks!

Well, I also never had any problems with IE7. I actually liked it more than FF just because of little things here and there like some settings and the fact that they took out the menu bar at the top. I also liked how it worked better with windows (favorites, FTP in windows explorer, and etc). When Vista came out IE7 went down hill for me. It refused to install flash and shockwave which was enough for me to switch to FF. Now I use FF exclusively and once I got used to the little differences I didn't mind the switch. I still dislike the menu bar, how bookmarks are setup, and the default theme is horrible (but you can get an aero mimic). FF will restore your pages on a computer crash, which is a great feature that IE doesn't have. IE will also crash very rarly, and I've NEVER had an actual FF software crash. FF works flawlessly, which is what I really need. I can get used the the little differences that I don't like as long as it works better.

Well... since I'm of the mind that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I'll stick with ie until it does something to majorly piss me off.

Technically IE 6 was heavily broken, I'm not a big fan of IE 7 so not sure about the vulernabilities...You're most likely talking about IE7 though. But personally, I won't be using a microsoft built browser from now on, nothing against Microsoft, but I prefer firefox more. It's treated me much better, and my computer is far more secure compared to the IE days. Plus, the open source nature really is fantastic, all these add-ons really make my life easier, especially Ad-block and no script. No script especially, I can force only the website content I want loaded...No need for most advertisements on sites, as well as having the mentality that I can visit any site without incurring any harm, thankfully it blocks everything, and I get to allow what I want and don't want. Truly a great add-on ^_^...but each time you visit a new site, you need to choose what to allow as all are blocked, but a worthy trade off considering my computer is far more secure without it.

Although I can't recall what ie version was out when I 1st used it, I've been using it for many years and have never had a major problem with it. My experiences have been >90% positive with it I'd say, but that's just me.

Ahhh..So maybe you are talking about IE6 also, do you run lavasoft ad-aware at all?...You should give it a try to see how much spyware you have...With IE6 I had so much it would slow down my pc tremendously..With Firefox, I rarely get any....But your rig probably hasn't had IE6 installed on it, if it does or had without a format recently...download ad-aware from lavasoft, update it, and run it =P...If you've had Ie6, you'd be surprised by how much spyware is cooked up on your machine.

Well if that's what was out 6 or 7 years ago then yes.

I have a friend who does ALOT of hacking(I know... shame shame, but that's his deal not mine)so naturally he's an expert on spyware detection/removal and says he's tried all the programs. Not too long ago we were bored and he told me that there's no way my PC is completely spyware/adware free with Norton alone so I said "do your worst". It took him nearly 3 hrs., but he installed a plethora of programs to probe my rig with it's 1 year old XP install and guess what: 0 spyware, adware, viruses or malware of any kind... seriously!!! He was completely blown away and left scratchin' his head.

I think it helps alot that I don't surf xxx sites.

 That does...lol...Devil

But even other sites have spyware besides porn. I use to collect a plethora of spyware....all over the place. I won't even get started on my cousins computers. They just surf around to the disney websites and just run around on the net, they were really young at the time...few years back, they were around 9 and 10. But damn, they had so much I couldn't even remove it all. The computer was so damn slow..I had to format the sucker to get it back to square one...The thing would freeze up often. It was badddd..lol

Yay! Another IE update I can ignor!

FireFox for life! Cool

lol. Is it just me or does anyone else hate IE 7's look/feel. It disgusts me...I have 3 browsers, Firefox, Opera, and IE. If it doesn't work in firefox I use opera, if opera doesn't work, I use my last resort IE.
