Congratulation Guys!! :) |
The 4670 was delivered yesterday (they tried to deliver it the day before but I wasn't there to sign for it). I am impressed with the really fast delivery. Thanks again HH |
That means, perhaps I still might get a package today? :) Hopefuly. I would be very very excited! Congrats once more! Edit: It did not arrive today, now it can only arrive next week. Ahhh... I am anxious to try it out already. :) |
Congrats Peti! Your stuff is always top notch! |
Thanks Werty. Too bad you didn't enter. It would have been fun. :) |
My Prize arrived today by FedEx.
Thanks Hothardware, Marco, Dave and AMD for this great contest! Now I just need something to use it in... |
Very nice! |
Very Nice. It's a great video card. Too bad mine didn't arrive yet. I am very anxious. I hope it arrives next week. :) |
Thanks guys. I'm saving up for a new computer to use it in. It'll probably be a Dragon platform PC, as they're alot cheaper than Core i7. And Pete nice video by the way! Don't worry, AMD will send you your prize! |
Nice! That was quick, Tank. Good stuff. Pete, we actually have to configure your prize, so hang tough. Soon brother, soon! |
No problem Dave. As long as it arrives before I die, I'll be happy. :) |
lol I had to wait a bit for my PC and it's totally worth waiting for. They build good PCs. :) |
I bet. I've seen some of the computers they built and it looked amazing. :) |
OK dudes, once again the comments and participation on the main page fall completely flat after the contest is over here. At the risk of sounding like a whine (I'll bring cheese and crackers next time, promise :)), what can we do differently here to get better involvement and engagement from you all? I'm all ears for any ideas you have! Thanks |
Giving you honest feedback here....I guess I haven't seen a TON of stories that interested me recently. I still comment from time-to-time obviously and I love it here, but I am just not AS interested in comcast lawsuits and myspace suicides as I am new GFX HW, CPUs, HDDs, and of course (my new fav) SFF/mITX builds. (I don't mean to offend Dave, I promise) |
I am with Ice on this one. Also I tend to just use the forum, instead of the front page UI. |

Hi Dave. I visit the site like 2-3 times every day, however just like what was said, that some of the topics just don't interest us. I am very busy with school at the moment as well. I had a break over the contest time period so I was much more involved with the forums and had more time to look through what is going on, but in my opinion it would be much more enjoyable to come by here if there would be more active users around. I see maybe like 10-15 trully active users and in my opinion we should have more. I don't know how we could attract them and keep them active though. In other forums, like for example Bjorn3D.com, I like to go there a lot because the forum seems to be very clean in organization, and many people are active there. I usually go for the off topics most of the time but every now and then hardware is awsome, esspecially when it is something new I have never heard about. I think we should get some topics going here like "post funny pictures you find" or games where you have to be active at by posting replies, and stuff like that. I enjoy forums that are full of fun. Hope this helps, I am being totally honest here with my response, so hope this helps. Peter P.S. Oh yeah, what I meant by clean and organized forum is by not having too many subforums. Having like 10-15 is ok, more than that... I have no time to go through all of that and I just get lost. |

I am still visiting the site daily, reading headlines and the forums. I am just a newbie with computer stuff so I find there isn't much I can contribute that will do much to further the discussion. I basically was looking for a new computer a few months ago and couldn't find what I wanted in my price range so I decided to take on the challenge of building a PC. I consider myself a pretty quick study and I have learned a ton from sites like this one with lots of reviews, etc. but I still have a ton to learn and my experience is very limited. I try to contributed the little bit that I have learned. I don't find the forums intimidating or anything. The people here (staff and regulars) are quite friendly which is certainly a big plus. I am just busy with life which makes where I will probably never be a huge poster. Between my job and home life which includes a 20 month old little girl my forum time is limited to lunch break and the evenings. And now that I can actually run newer games, my evenings lately have spent sneeking around the jungle and sniping unsuspecting victims in Crysis and Crsysis Warhead There is only a handful of forums I post in. I enjoy 3Dgameman.com largely because of Rodney's video reviews. The forum topic turn-over is also pretty high so I run into more topics that I know a little about. I post a little over at club OC as well. The forums are a little slow but the people are friendly. Not sure that really helps you much but I figured I would throw it out there |

I still visit daily around 3-5 times or more a day. I usually check to see if anyones replied to any posts, and post back. Because I live in NZ on the opposite side of the world and with an 18 hour time difference, when I check in at HH, theres basically nobody on, which gets kinda boring. Also its impossible to tell whos on, it gets quite frustrating, as I know how many people are on, but not who. To combat this, I think HH needs to be able to attract new users, and keep them here. One way I think this could be achieved is by having HH specialise in a specific technology area, as well as covering all other general technology. Some examples are Driverheaven.net, who specialise in their DH Mobility Modder drivers for Laptops, and Bit-Tech.net, who focus around modding. If HH focused on one area, I think that it would create a larger community of people who are interested in a specific tech area, as well as general technology. HH could also have a promotion or contest to attract new users, but as always, some users come for contests and leave. Maybe we could have an ongoing contest, such as member of the month, which focuses on participation all the time, not just for a few days or week. We could also have a new member contribution contest, where HH reward the most active new user for each month. These could be in addition to other contests such as the Holiday Sweepstakes. Another point to consider is to have a post, participation and joining date requirement before people can enter major competitions, like the Holiday Sweepstakes. Another way to attract users could be creative competitions like the Holiday Sweepstakes, and if possible worldwide comps would attract more users. Hot Hardware have great reviews and videos, but I think they need to have weekly or even daily articles/reviews if possible to keep people interested, like other technology sites.I really like the Nvidia Ion video, and I think it would of been great to have more videos of products at CES, even if they're only for one minute, it makes the CES coverage from HH alot more interesting. Maybe all the staff also could be a bit more active in the forums, and it would be great to have more staff (if possible). In my time here on HH 've noticed there are only around 20 or so regulars, which is alot less than some other sites. I've also seen thqat there are around 100 guests at any time .If there were regular events such as online games or as Pete said a post funny pictures or story thread,it would encourage them to join, and other members to stay. One last thing which may be intimidating is the amount of forum sections. I counted 36 (I'm probably one or two off), and thats excluding sub forums! I think 10-15 would be alot easier to look through, and it would keep everyone on the forums more 'concentrated'. If users are concentrated to 10 -15 forums it would help keep all topics with regular posts, as currently, some of the topics haven't gotten new posts in months or weeks! These are just my ideas on HH, Dave. Tank

I strongly agree on these ideas. I like the other ones as well, but these in my opinion would make a better and bigger community.
I am anxiously waiting. It's killing me though. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow, so I won't have to wait for another week. :) |
Eight months on, I don't think we've seen a similar drop after the most recent contest. The key to having frequent member contributions is for one person to make a stupid and wholly illogical post. Something like..."If I had a 8 GTX 295's in SLI, I could get 1000 FPS on Crysis Warhead!" Then you sit back and enjoy the show... :)
OK, go for it, Gibb! :) Also, we do have more contests coming in the next week or two. |
"Ahem", I'm sitting right *here*. :p |

Got your prize yet Pete? It must be hard to wait for so long. :( |

Nope, still nothing. My dad keeps asking if the package will ever arrive, because he is digging that computer a lot, but I keep telling him it will arrive sometime soon... Hopefully. :) I'll keep waiting patiently, and hopefully it will arrive sometime this week. |
