HP announced a new generation of consumer desktop PCs as
well as an updated HP TouchSmart PC software suite. The redesigned consumer
desktop lines include the HP Slimline, HP Pavilion, HP Elite, and Compaq
Presario. The HP Slimline, HP Pavilion, and HP Elite lines will come with the
HP MediaSmart software suite. This multimedia software makes watching TV or
Blu-ray movies, sharing photos via Snapfish, burning music, etc. very easy.
The new
HP Pavilion Slimline s5000 series stands at half the size
of a conventional PC tower and will fit neatly on a desk or in a dorm room. The
HP Pavilion p6000 series focuses on offering a rich and
rewarding Web and multimedia experience. The
HP Pavilion Elite e9000 series delivers performance for
demanding tasks such as video editing, gaming, and multitasking. Finally, the
Compaq Presario CQ5000 series offers reliability at an
affordable price. To complement all of these new PCs, HP is also offering a 20-inch
HP 2009m monitor and a 21.5-inch
HP 2159m monitor, as well as matching keyboard and mouse.

The new HP TouchSmart PC software suite provides an improved
touch experience to help you enjoy photos, videos, music, and more. New
features include Pandora Internet Radio service, better photo and video editing
and searching, and the ability to burn music CDs. Consumers can also stream
content to the TouchSmart from an
HP MediaSmart Server or any home server.
Soon, HP plans to introduce the HP SimpleSave external hard
drive series to complement the new PCs and offer simple and automatic backup.
The hard drive family will consist of two products: HP SimpleSave Portable and
HP SimpleSave Desktop. HP SimpleSave Portable will be available in 320- and
500-gigabyte capacities. The HP SimpleSave Desktop will be available in 1- and
2-terabyte capacities. Both devices come with preinstalled backup software.
The new desktops are available through
www.HPDirect.com. From now until June 27
th,
HP will offer hard drive upgrade and monitor promotions on selected systems.
In addition, HP has also said select consumer
desktop PCs purchased after June 26 at 12:01 a.m. ET will be eligible for HP’s
