Google Releasing Update for 2013 Nexus 7, Fixes GPS and Touchscreen Issues

There's a new over-the-air (OTA) update available for the 2013 Nexus 7 that is supposed to fix at least a couple niggling issues some early adopters have been noticing, including problems with the touchscreen and GPS, Google announced in separate Google Product Forums posts. The update -- JSS15Q -- began rolling out to Nexus 7 owners yesterday, though if you haven't received it yet, you can always manually check.

Starting with the touchscreen issue, some users reported wonky issues with how their taps were being registered. For example, the Nexus 7 might record a single tap as a double tap, while other times registering ghost taps in areas far removed from where the user was touching the tablet.

"This update does address the touchscreen issues discussed in this thread. If you're one of the people experiencing touchscreen issues, please let us known how it's going after you've received and installed the update," said Paul Wilcox, Android Community Manager for Google.

In a separate post, Wilcox confirmed that the update also addresses the flaky GPS. Prior to the update, users complained that the GPS would work fine for a spell, and then stop working after a few minutes. The only fix was to reboot the Nexus 7.

On a totally irrelevant note, any rumors about a new Nexus 10? If I can't afford something, I'd at least want it to be a real lust object.

I gave my husband a 7 Nexus for his birthday 9 March this year, he is thrilled to bits & recommends to any body who he knows. I got amazing discount with Amazon India Coupons on buying nexus 7.
