I didn't know that people were getting up to arms over Google+'s policies. It's at least nice to see Google do something. As for the real name thing, I think it's too late for me to go back; I mean none of my personal information is out there but apparently using your real name is dangerous on the internet. Oh well... |
|
Think about it as using your real name is dangerous online... yeah but we are asked to do it all over the place. How about your social security number that every financial institution and healthcare place asks for... This is something that is supposed to be protected and many times you are required to supply it to get services. |

A bit strict? they are doing this now... what should we expect for their future??? |

bla bla bla policy bla bla compliance bla bla Q. Why does google want my real name ? I use their service , I allow them to advertise to me. END OF |

Ex-CEO Eric Schmidt tried to compare using pseudonyms with having something to hide, and was roundly ridiculed. It's the contrary and Google and everyone else knows it: The pseudonyms have something to say and most who use their real name in public are the phonies. Like Eric Schmidt. Think of why Google would have a real name policy to begin with and ask yourself "Is there any way to enforce this policy for these reasons?" Well no, of course not. Anybody who was online before Facebook is known more by their pseudonyms than by their real name anyway and any effort to control identity is an just effort to control thought and discourse. Beware of any powerful entities that pretend to want to know what you're thinking so they can presumably change their way of thinking. That's not why they want to know, or they wouldn't need your real name.
