Fujifilm Announces Six New Cameras For Fall
FinePix S200EXR
The FinePix S200EXR is Fujifilm’s newest flagship megazoom camera with a 14.1x zoom lens (30.5mm – 436mm equivalent) and the ability to shoot VGA video at 30fps. Fujifilm calls the FinePix S200EXR its most advanced DSLR-bridge camera to date. This 12-megapixel camera is said to be able to capture images with SLR-like quality thanks to the new EXR CCD sensor, which has been improved over the original FinePix S100FS model. This system offers three switchable modes in one sensor: a high-resolution mode for full and even light; a wide dynamic range mode to enhance detail; and a high-sensitivity/low-noise mode for high quality, low-light images. The camera also features both optical image stabilization as well as the Fujifilm high ISO system to reduce blur from subject movement by increasing the ISO. The S200EXR will ship in August for approximately $600.
FinePix F70EXR
As the company’s first compact megazoom camera, the FinePix F70EXR offers advanced features at an aggressive price (about $280). The F70EXR will offer a compact design and a 10x wide-angle optical zoom lens with an equivalent focal range from 27mm to 270mm. The F70EXR uses a Super EBC coating to help reduce ghosting and flare. The F70EXR’s body measures 22.7mm thick and features a metal shell and lacquer finish. This camera also employs Fujifilm’s EXR CCD sensor and offers Multi Frame Technology for DSLR-quality images. The F70EXR offers a Super Intelligent Flash control system and a 2.7-inch high contrast LCD.
FinePix Z37
Targeting young, tech-savvy fashionistas, the new FinePix Z37 comes with tools for social-networking enthusiasts such as a blog mode and movie mode. The Z37 features a new, thinner body that measures 19.1mm thick and comes in three colors—blue, green, or violet. This 10-megapixel camera has a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.7-inch LCD. It also offers an automatic scene recognition mode and supports a maximum ISO of up to 1,600. Face detection, picture stabilization, and a li-ion battery round out the list of features. The Z37 will ship in August for a suggested retail price of about $150.
FinePix J38
Targeting users on a budget who want great quality and style, the new FinePix J38 measures 20mm thick and offers a 12-megapixel sensor as well as a 3x optical zoom lens. You can review your images on the camera’s 2.7-inch high resolution LCD. Key features include an automatic scene recognition mode, face detection, panoramic shooting capabilities, and a li-ion battery. The J38 is scheduled to debut in August for approximately $130.
Fujifilm A220 / Fujifilm A170
As two of the company’s entry-level models, the A170 and the A220 offer Automatic Scene Recognition, panoramic shooting capabilities, face detection, and slim 21.9mm bodies. The 10-megapixel A170 and 12-megapixel A220 also offer 3x optical zoom lenses and 2.7-inch LCD screens with 230,000-pixel resolution. Both models offer Fujifilm’s Picture Stabilization and a movie mode that can capture VGA quality video at 30fps with sound. Each camera comes with 20MB of internal memory and supports SD memory cards. The cameras use standard AA batteries. The A170 will ship in July for approximately $90; the A220 will be available in August for around $100.
