Foursquare Overhauls Android App To Make Nearby Finds Easier

As the world grows more mobile and more connected, users are increasingly relying on things like geolocation apps in order to spot great / recommended venues nearby. And Foursquare knows it. As one of the top 'check-in' apps in the world, the company is updating its Android client this week with three major changes. First, it's making it easier to find places nearby with the Explore feature. Foursquare has built a moother search experience and moved Explore to the top of the home screen to make it easy to quickly find a place. Tap the search bar to find “nachos,” “Mexican,” or “margaritas,” or browse categories like coffee, food, and nightlife.

Next, you'll be able to quickly see friends, as well as great places nearby. Now when you open up the app, you’ll see a map up top that shows friends who are checked in nearby, along with places we think you’ll like. Tap on the map to expand it, and zoom around to see even more of your friends. Finally, there's an easier way to view your to-do list. Instead of three tabs at the bottom of the app, you’ll now have a drawer (tap the top left corner of the screen) where you can easily get to your profile, lists, and settings. Now, when you save a great new place to your to-do list, it’s just a single tap away.

The app's still free, and it's available in Google Play right now.
