First Factory OC GeForce 8800

Fudo over at The Inquirer reports that XFX will be the first graphics card vendor which has NVIDIA's blessings to offer a factory-overclocked GeForce 8800 series graphics card. The flagship GeForce 8800 GTX XXX Edition will ship with a core frequency of 630MHz and memory running at 2GHz. In contrast, stock GeForce 8800 GTX cards operate at a core frequency of 575MHz and memory running at 1.8GHz. Somewhat ironically, XFX will also launch the GeForce 8800 GTS XXX Edition which will run at 550MHz for the core and 1.8GHz for the memory. Despite having fewer stream processors than the flagship GTX edition, it should be interesting to see how close this card's performance is given the nearly identical clock speeds. These cards should be hitting the channel in the very near future, though it is not known whether other OC-friendly vendors such as BFG and Gainward will be granted permission to offer factory-overclocked cards themselves.

WE TOLD you it will come and XFX is the first to persuade the Nvidians to let it play with its designs. XFX has just released a limited edition of cards overclocked to 630MHz Core/2GHz Memory. The stock G80 GTX works at 575MHz Core/1.8MHz memory speed.
