Facebook Preps Big Changes to Privacy Settings
"We continue to strive toward three main goals: bringing controls in context where you share, helping you understand what appears where as you use Facebook, and providing tools to help you act on content you don't like," Sam Lessin, a director of product for Facebook, explained in a blog post.
One of the updates include new Privacy Shortcuts located on the toolbar. Lessin touched on the problematic process of stopping what you're doing and navigating through a separate set of pages whenever users wanted to change their privacy and timeline controls, and the new shortcuts will address that concern.
A much needed change applies to apps and how they request permissions. Under the new system, apps will ask for separate permissions to access your profile and post to your friends on your behalf; it's no longer an all-or-nothing affair. Here's hoping this change leads to less clutter from automated game requests.
Lessin talked about several other tools, which will begin rolling out at the end of this year.

Yep, I agree. Even the ability to share a photo on the mobile app is sometimes available and other times not. Personally, I've never been a huge fan of the mobile app until recently, since it's improved quite a bit over the past 2 years it's tolerable. However I'm still amazed at how difficult the main site can be. I've been using the internet for nearly 20 years now, and even I have difficulty figuring out what option does what. They just need to make the privacy controls a little more intuitive, which appears to be exactly what they did in the pictures in the article. |

I wish it were easier to selectively make posts NOT viewable to certain friends, instead of making it only viewable to specific people. It's easier to separate specific people you don't want to see something than selecting something you do want everyone to see. It's not exactly like you want your parents, family or younger siblings able to browse through photos from a late night out or something of the sort |
You can set up groups in facebook to only show to certain people. I'm too lazy to do it, but always look at it when i'm posting something I know my grandmother is going to be up in arms about. |

I know, I'm the exact same way, it's just the hassle of selecting who can see it (a.k.a. everyone except a few certain people from about 1200 friends) would take a long time. I want the ability to just select who can't see it |

Privaqcy settings on Facebook are something that evryone should have. However the problem is, nobody knows how to properly use them... ( Well, okay, Grammy and Grandpa don't, but neither do alot of others) |
