Defense Mobile Bringing Sprint-Based Mobile Services To Military Members
Far too often, we hear plenty of negative stories making the news, with very little positive news to balance things out. It's a depressing cycle, to be sure, so we're thrilled to see a nugget in the technology world that's breaking that trend. Defense Mobile Corporation aunching a new nationwide wireless service on the Sprint 4G LTE network, with a unique mobile affinity platform, integrated mobile banking, and a set of community-focused mobile applications. When it launches in 2014, the service will be available to active-duty officers and enlisted personnel of the U.S. military, including those serving or honorably discharged from the Selected Reserve and federally recognized National Guard components of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Cadets/midshipmen at the U.S. service academies and families of active duty U.S military and veterans are also eligible.
The provider will be offering plans ranging from $20 (for just the basics) to $60 (for entire family plans). As if those prices weren't attractive enough, those eligible to participate will also get a pretty stout phone selection: the HTC One, iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 are all options. Without getting political, we're always happy to see special services offered to our members of the military, and we hope this is a trend that continues in the tech space.
