CyberPowerPC Unveils Fang Mini SFF Gaming Rigs, Starting At $799

The SFF gaming PC craze is in full swing, and CyberPowerPC has lent the “Fang” moniker to a pair of the little beasts. The company is rolling out the Fang Mini R9 (which is based on an AMD platform) and the Fang Mini Pro (which is based on Intel), both of which are available today.

How small is small? The chassis measures just 4.5 x 4.3 x 2.4 inches (LxWxH).

The AMD version sports an AMD A8-5557M quad-core APU with Radeon R9 M275X (2GB) graphics, 8GB of DDR3 RAM (expandable to 16GB), and a 1TB (7200 rpm) HDD for $799. The Pro version rocks a quad-core Intel Core i7-4770R chip with integrated Iris Pro Graphics 5200, 8GB of DDR3 RAM (also expandable to 16GB), and a 1TB 7200 rpm HDD. The Intel version starts at $899.

Both versions feature 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi with Bluetooth 4.0 and run Windows 8.1. They also offer an mSATA slot and a 2.5-inch expansion bay if you want to goose the storage setup with an SSD. For ports, the systems offer HMDI out, mini DisplayPort out, Ethernet, four USB 3.0, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a Kensington lock.

They’re also backed by CyberPowerPC’s three-year limited warranty.

This is neat, but my experience with Cyber Power was terrible, worst customer service I have ever experienced from a company I was trying to spend over a thousand USD at.

Same boat. They have neat products, but they ruined the experience; twice. I build my own and wanted to try them once, won't ever do that again.

NUC style PCs sure are making headway. Wish they would implement PCIEx16 in there somehow and I would be set.

I bought a laptop from them, waited the three weeks they said they needed. I contacted them on the day they were supposed to ship it out asking what was up with my order since there had been no change in status. They told me on the day it was supposed to ship they were out of stock and it was going to take another three weeks. It took one week for my money to be returned to my account, so basically they got an eleven hundred dollar interest free loan from me for a month. Never again.

tl;dr

Bad customer service, shady as hell.
