Corsair Makes A Pretty Cherry MX Mechanical Keyboard, Also Brings New Cases And Cooling To CES

Corsair’s spate of new goodies at CES this year includes keyboards, chassis, cooling solutions, and more, but the headliner is the Cherry MX RGB Project gaming keyboard. Based on a Vengeance K70 keyboard, the unit is equipped with Cherry MX RGB keyswitches and offers gamers 16.8 million-color backlighting.

Users can opt for Cherry MX Red, Cherry MX Brown, or Cherry MX Blue keyswitches, but all options will be pretty with fully customizable lighting schemes.

Corsair has also lent its color backlighting to the Raptor K40 RGB LED gaming keyboard ($79.99) and Raptor M45 gaming mouse ($59.99). The K40 offers a membrane key feel and onboard macro storage, anti-ghosting with full-key rollover on USB, dedicated multimedia keys, and 6 programmable keys. There are 18 programmable functions and 3 separate banks, all of which can be stored onboard.

The M45 sports a Pixart PMW3310 5000 DPI optical sensor, PTFE glide pads, a high-mass scroll wheel, and an adjustable weight system. The 7 programmable buttons with macros should keep any gamer happy, and users can switch between different DPI settings easily.

There are a few new cases in Corsair’s quiver, and the first of the two is the Obsidian Series 250D mini-ITX case ($89.99). The compact chassis measures just 11.4 x 10.9 x 13.81 inches (HxWxD) and features brushed steel and aluminum construction with a roof-mounted window. The case supports liquid coolers and full-length graphics cards and PSUs. It has two expansion slots, two tool-free 3.5/2.5-inch combo bays, two tool-free 2.5-inch bays, and a 5.25-inch bay, and there’s a pair of USB 3.0 ports on the front. There’s room for up to 5 fans, and the 250D comes with two of them.

The other chassis are the full-tower Graphite Series 760T and 730T. The flagship 760T comes in black ($179.99) or white ($189.99), while the 730T comes in black only ($139.99). The difference between the two is that the 760T has two full-window side panels that swing out; on the 730T, those panels are steel offering users the option to go stealth mode.

The cases have 9 expansion slots, 6 total 3.5/2.5-inch combo bays in 2 modular hard drive cages (with room for up to 12 bays), and there’s also four 2.5-inch side-mounted cages and three 5.52-inch bays, all tool-free. The front panel has four USB 3.0 ports, and the built-in fan controller (on the 760T only) lets you switch between high and low fan speeds. There are three fans mounted in the cases, although there’s room for up to eight of them, and you can mount a radiator on the top, front, bottom, or rear.

Speaking of liquid coolers, Corsair brought one of those, too, the Hydro Series H105 dual-fan 240mm liquid CPU cooler ($119.99). The radiator is 38mm thick with two SP120L PWM 120mm fans and a tool-free CPU mounting block--which includes a slick-looking backlit logo and a color ring. The H105 supports a “wide range” of both Intel and AMD CPU sockets and comes with a 5-year warranty.

If you need a PSU for one of the aforementioned cases, Corsair offers the AX1500i ($449.99), a 1500W Digital ATX PSU that the company says goes beyond 80 PLUS Platinum standards for incredible efficiency of up to 94%. The PSU comes with eight PCIe cables to support as many as four GPUs and has USB onboard to accommodate Corsair Link real-time monitoring and customization. The 140mm low-noise fan should keeps things quiet in general, but for good measure you can opt for the Silent Zero RPM Fan Mode which runs at 450W when it’s convenient.

Finally, Corsair introduced the Corsair Flash Voyager GO USB 3.0 flash drives, which are available in 16GB ($19.99), 32GB ($29.99), and 64GB ($49.99) capacities. The drives feature both USB and micro USB connectors to provide storage on desktops and laptops as well as tablets and smartphones.
