Casio Announces EXILIM Hi-Zoom EX-H10 Camera

Casio released its new EXILIM Hi-Zoom EX-H10 compact digital camera today. Touted as the world’s thinnest and lightest camera in its class, the EX-H10 features a battery life of 1,000 shots on a single charge as well as an ultra-wide angle 24mm (35 mm film camera equivalent), 10x optical zoom lens. The camera measures just 0.95 inches thick, making it very portable for a camera with such features.

Inside the camera, you’ll find the EXILIM Engine 4.0, which is designed to deliver high image quality and low power consumption in a small package. The new Engine’s Multi-CPU is designed for high-speed image processing.

This high-performance, 12.1 megapixel camera features a number of Casio’s original photographic functions. For example, Casio’s Dynamic Photo function, which lets you extract images of a moving subject and combine them with a still image to form a new background, now does even more. With the newest version of Dynamic Photo, you’ll be able to change the size of the subject to suit the background image. In addition, the Dynamic Photo video can be converted in the camera to a motion JPEG movie file. You can also add one of eight moving graphics to images, such as hearts or a bouquet of flowers.

The camera features a 3-inch monitor and a CCD-shift image stabilization mechanism. The EX-H10 can also capture movies at 1280x720 pixels. To help you better capture beautiful scenery, there’s also a new Landscape Mode with a dedicated button. Whereas previous landscape photography modes enhanced the saturation of an entire hue, with the new landscape mode, users can select either a Vivid Landscape option or a Mist Removal option. The Vivid Landscape feature uses image analysis to enhance the most important colors in a landscape while the Mist Removal feature will make a weather-affected misty scene look clear and bright.

Additional shooting modes include a Makeup mode that helps to focus on and properly expose for a subject’s face. This mode also adjusts the smoothness of skin and softens facial shadows caused by sunlight. A Handheld Night Scene function helps you get good shots in difficult situations, such as night scenes or backlit scenes when faces might be poorly exposed or camera shake could ruin a shot.

The EXILIM Hi-Zoom EX-H10 will begin shipping in mid July for an MSRP of $299.99. It will be available in black.
