I now pay $17.95 a month for NetFlix and that gets me 3 movies at all times, switched out as I send them back and replaced with the next movie on my 'list'. But I also get to watch an unlimited number of Flix on my computer. AND,.... I get to stream movies to my Roku device that runs off of my wireless internet connection and sits in my bedroom where I have surround sound and a 42" flat screen Panel. Roku gives me movies in HD quality and works really well. All of these extra perks are free. So I get on the average, about 30 movies per month for my $17.95 fee. Blockbuster cannot compete with NetFlix. Not even close,......no way. |

I find it hard to get excited about this too. Maybe I'm suffering from movie overload. There are on-demand/download movie services everywhere now. I can't even use the PS3 store without having movies swung at my head. They added On-demand movies to our local cable a while back, and I still haven't even used it. I've got boxed set DVDs that I've never even opened because I don't want the stuff in my DVR to expire before I get to it. It's a wonder the movie industry hasn't toppled from oversaturation, like the great videogame crash of 1983. I saw this in the PPV list, so you can't tell me the movie industry has better standards for their products. |

If this was an attempt to get the better of Netflix, Blockbuster has failed. For the reasons realneil and 3vi1 stated, Netflix offers much better value and blockbuster is only now entering an already crowded marketplace for on-demand content. I'm surprised they're still in business. |
