BREAKING: Apple Co-Founder and Former CEO Steve Jobs Dies at Age 56

It's a sad day for Apple fans in particular and the tech world at large. Steve Jobs, co-founder and former CEO of Apple, has passed away at the age of 56. Jobs, who in 1976 co-founded what would later become one of the largest computer companies in the world, had been fighting with cancer for the past several years. The cause of his death has not yet been announced.

Apple's board of directors posted the following statement on its website:

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."

Jobs had only recently stepped down from his position as CEO, at the time saying, "I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come."

Jobs leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Laurene, and four children. R.I.P Jobs, you will be missed.
