It's AMD, it's dual-core, and it's cheap... well, cheaper anyway. That's right, the new Athlon 64 X2 3800 reviews are out and about, and here at HH Marco has taken this thing through a battery of tests. Also new in the AMD lineup, is the 3400 Sempron. Jeff takes a look at the newest member of the Sempron family to see if it can hold it's own against today's latest and greatest applications and games.
"AMD's dual-core processors were undeniably desirable, but with a minimum cost higher than some complete entry-level PCs, justifying the purchase of one of these processors would be difficult for many enthusiasts. Today though, AMD is taking the wraps off of a brand new Athlon 64 X2 processor, that's priced well below their existing offerings, the Athlon 64 X2 3800 ."
"Like the 3300 , the Sempron 3400 is built on their 90nm manufacturing process. When AMD made the move the Sempron to their 90nm line, they not only introduced SSE3 instruction support to the Sempron line, but AMD also implemented changes to the memory controller as well. These enhancements improved both memory mapping and memory loading while adding support for mismatched DIMMs."
"While air cooling techniques are still sufficient to handle the greater heat output, much better solutions exists. Using a kit with parts pre-selected can often times be better than a similar do-it-yourself system and also cost much less. In this review we will look at the water cooling alternative with a complete kit provided by Gigabyte Technology – the 3D Galaxy Liquid Cooling System."
"Overclockers and enthusiasts these days usually pursue one of two goals: to reach DDR600 memory speeds at slightly relaxed timings, or to maintain tight 2-2-2-5 timings while pushing up to around DDR520 speeds. If you're looking for the latter, then OCZ's new Gamer eXtreme PC-3500 might be the perfect modules for you."
"The new Steel Sound 5H-USB professional gaming headset looks just like any other gaming headset. But looks are deceptive for this headset boasts of unique features like a specially-tweaked USB sound card, a retractable microphone as well as the ability to be dismantled for easy transportation! Check it out now!"
"The E5c are an addition to Shure's high-end line of earphones that include models ranging from E2c all the way to E5c. The E5c earphones include Sound Isolating Technology and dual driver performance drivers. According to Shure, the earphones weigh approximately 1oz with a comfortable fit and a natural way to block excess noise."
