Asus Joins Mobile Core i7 Gang With 16" M60J Multimedia Notebook

It was only last week that Intel rolled out its newest Core i7 chips, and already a handful of prominent notebook manufacturers are lining up to introduce new machines with those very CPUs within. Asus is joining the fray with its classy M60J, a 16" multimedia powerhouse with plenty of leverage to handle practically anything that you'd dream of throwing at a laptop.

Within the sleek, black shell is a 1.6GHz Core i7 720QM or a 1.73GHz Core i7 820QM, both of which are hot off the presses from Intel. Windows Vista is the OS of choice, but we get the idea that this rig will be eligible for a Windows 7 upgrade once October 22nd rolls around. There's also an Intel PM55 Express chipset, room for 4GB of DDR3-1333MHz memory, a 16" display (1366x768 resolution), a 250GB/320GB/500GB 2.5" hard drive, a built-in optical drive (DVD is standard; Blu-ray is optional) and a 4-in-1 card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS-PRo). Rounding things out are a 2MP webcam, Gigabit Ethernet jack, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, an ExpressCard slot, HDMI port, eSATA and even a fingerprint reader.

As is typically the case with new Asus machines, the outfit has yet to make public a price or release date, but considering just how quickly rivals are getting their wares out, we doubt Asus will sit around too long on this one.

Asus laptop are for me one of the best i would say they are better than any Toshiba, DELL, HP and Sony.

The new Asus models seem to get better and better.   I was kind of disappointed with mine from 2 years ago.  One thing I do know is that it comes with a whole suite of bloatware.  Wooo!

This laptop looks pretty spot on.  My girlfriend just bought an Asus and loves hers, however it is not an i7.  How much of a price change is this over their previous lines?
