To date, not too many Android tablets have shipped with Ice Cream Sandwich onboard. Why? Perhaps only Google
knows, but there's serious motivation to get cranking on that with Google I/O just a few months away. Archos, a low-cost leader in the space, has just announced that their 80 G9 Turbo slate is now shipping, and yes, Android
4.0 is on board. Inside the case, there's a 1.5GHz OMAP4 processor, an 8" display (1024x768), a 720p front-facing camera, and your choice of 8GB of 16GB of storage.
Archos is known for keeping the price points well below that of others, and that's not changing here. These will ship for around $310 and $380, depending on capacity, and that's about as cheap as it gets for an Android 4.0 tablet with a screen larger than seven inches. Of course, Archos isn't a major name like Lenovo or HP, but with prices like that, they might just snag a few converts.
