Apple's Next-Gen Cupertino Work Facility Looks Huge, Eco-Friendly

Apple and Cupertino go hand-in-hand. Steve Jobs grew up in the Bay Area-town, and now it's home to Apple. Apple's primary campus on Infinite Loop only holds a few thousand employees, but Apple needs space for thousands upon thousands more. Currently, those others are spread across multiple facilities in the Bay Area, but Jobs has a better idea: bring them all together into a massive complex that's around the size of the U.S. Pentagon.

In a recent town council meeting, Jobs took time out of his busy day in order to explain why the new facility should be allowed to exist within the community, and what he planned to do in order to make it an eco-friendly place and a beautiful place (rather than an eyesore). Of course, the number one reason was the continued tax base growth for Cupertino, and hardly anyone could find reason to argue with that. The facility would be capable of holding around 12,000 Apple employees, and the company has made plans to convert a lot of boring pavement into beautiful courtyards.

Apple's Steve Jobs called this "the best office building in the world," among other things. The whole meeting was recorded for public view, and it's a fairly hilarious watch. One of the Cupertino folks actually asks Apple for citywide Wi-Fi, as well as a Cupertino Apple Store. Then another pulls out an iPad 2, presumably to kiss up. Either way, we suspect Cupertino won't mind the extra tax dollars, and if all goes well, employees could be working here by 2015.

Wow the city council was so awe inspired by Steve Jobs' super powers that he could not even introduce him without studdering umm ummm. I didn't have time to watch the whol 21 minutes but Jobs certainly had his salesman cap on for this conference.

LOL APPLE "IS" WEED :P, people get addicted to it once they use it...

I would love to see this being built, it would be pretty nice to see how it will come out to look like in real life.

i wonder why those corner folks won't sell... Steve has offed millions for one plot before... :P

Also why not just put the store in this building... (came up near the end of the video)

I thought the "free wifi" grab was kind of tacky... but I must say that the citizens should re-elect her for trying to get them even more out of a win/win situation. :)

Haha yeah I am sure they will probably vote them into office again.

Wow, this town meeting reminds me of one of my favorite jokes of all time.... "what's the difference between a brown-noser and an a$$-kisser?? Depth perception..." What a bunch of suck-ups! LOL

Apple is a very big business so of course they need to expand. The building looks pretty interesting and I like the inner courtyard. Everybody was smiling like they were starstruck though.

"I admit ,that was the longest video I have ever watched on Youtube. When Steve said that "as you know Apple is Growing Like Weed", I wanted to laugh out loud, until you realize just how much power that sentence has."

"One thing that made me respect Steve Jobs even more, is his answer to Major, I mean Mayor Kiss Ass, about having an Apple Store in the Community, plus Steve's response to the councilwomen about free Wi-Fi, DAMN, wow, Jobs is no Joke when it comes to business. By the way, that building will be a marvel of architecture once its done, I just hope that there won''t be any Foxconn incidents happening there"

I have friends at Apple. One person I know says it's the best employer they've ever had by far. Even putting Apple and Foxconn in the same sentence, in terms of workplace quality, is a complete polar opposite. Granted Foxconn is an Apple contractor but beyond that, the two couldn't be any more dissimilar.

MAN, that guy is slick! At first I was like, man these guys are sure stupid! Then I'm like, no, actually they're just starstruck. It was plain who hand the upper hand, and it weren't no council members.

Man that is a beautiful facility, I know Google's done their share of eco-friendly investments with things like the Solar and Wind energy farms but Apple is one upping them by creating a new facility and integrating environmental goals as well.

It's great to see the world's largest tech company using the earths resources to their maximum potential but respecting where those resources come from as well!
