Adobe's Flash Seen Running On HP's Impending TouchPad

Guess what? HP's TouchPad seems to be darn good at Flash. Yes, Adobe's Flash. As in, the Flash that no iOS device is capable of handling, despite tons of public backlash. Apple's pretty much set on never supporting Flash, hoping to hold out until most web video is converted over to the more universally accepted HTML5. It's quite possible that HP plans on using this fact (the fact that the TouchPad can play Flash) to set itself apart from Apple's iPad. The TouchStone feature is also an impressive one, but it's one that will be harder to sell to the mainstream.

The TouchPad Flash demo was shown at a Qualcomm demo earlier in the week, where the 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor powered through tons of simultaneous apps. That kind of power will certainly churn through Flash video as well, but there's no need to just take our word for it. The video showing as much is embedded below.

Hmm there was a little bit of choppiness in the beginning of the video but I would not doubt that was due to buffering. Apple is right that web content will be converted to HTML 5 and Flash will go away... I have seen some full blown applications through the use of HTML 5 so that is pretty cool. The place where I think Apple has it wrong is that it is going to take 2-3 years for Flash to disappear. Personally I can't wait until I have to support less plugins in the IT world.

I'm anxious for the HP TouchPad to hit the market. It's looking like a cool device, and Flash support certainly helps its attractiveness :-)

That did seem a bit jerky didn't it. I agree with @omegadraco I think flash is going to take a super long time to disappear, I'll be bold and peg it at upwards of 5 years. Flash is too widely used and accepted to just disappear over night. I'm almost as excited about this tablet coming out as I was for the transformer, the webOS demo looked great.

Flash is jerky on desktops, and laptops in my opinion... but Blackberry playbook plays flash video effortlessly with very little buffing.. So if the WebOS is similar to QNX I believe it will also render good results. I purchased the Aconia A500 and it video play back was horrible, i took it back. Now i'm waiting for the HP touchpad..
