ATI RD580: Dual x16 Crossfire Preview
Anandtech has been given a first-hand preview of a X1800XT Crossfire setup on the latest chipsets from ATI. Despite a few initial speed-bumps, the chipset division seems to finally be up to speed and ready to release some exceptional new products. Granted, we'll reserve final judgement until we have some retail boards in our hands though statements like the following certainly leave one optimistic.
Because X1800XT Crossfire and The RD580 chipset have not yet officially launched, ATI has asked that we not publish hard benchmarks of our results, since they will likely change in final release versions. We can, however, talk in general terms about performance. Those of you who believe ATI is far behind nVidia are in for a surprise.
