Third Gen Motorola Moto G Leaks With 5-inch 1080p Display And 64-bit Snapdragon 610 SoC
Motorola has something big planned for July 28th. It’s expected that the company, now under the wing of Lenovo, will launch a third generation Moto X, the third generation Moto G, and the second generation Moto 360 smartwatch. Unfortunately for Motorola, at least one of its upcoming stars, the Moto G, has been leaking a bit over the past few weeks.
The Moto G sprung another leak today as Swiss retailer Digitec claims to have secured renders and specifications for for Motorola’s next mid-range smartphone. For starters, the renders lineup up perfect with what we seen in previous leaks, and shows a device that isn’t too far removed from the second generation model stylistically.
However, Motorola has some big changes in store when it comes to the Moto G’s display and internal specs. On the display front, the previous 5-inch 720p display has been tossed aside in favor of a crisper 1080p unit (still measuring 5-inches diagonally). The quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 has been dumped in favor of the 64-bit, quad-core Snapdragon 610 which clocks in at 1.7GHz. RAM has also been doubled from a meager to 1GB to an adequate 2GB. Unfortunately, internal storage is still stuck at 8GB, but luckily the built-in microSD slot can accommodate an additional 128GB.
Motorola is also holding the line with respects to battery capacity, as the third generation Moto 3 is listed as also having a 2070 mAh battery.
Needless to say, we’re eager to see what else Motorola has in store for us one week from today. While the Moto G is definitely a tasty appetizer, the next generation Moto X will be the main course. Will the device pack a QHD display? Will it skip Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 for something a little less “toasty?” And of course, we can’t forget the desert course: the Moto 360. We’ve seen quite a few leaks over the past few months, but we can’t wait to see next generation model in real life.
