Oops! LG Accidentally Leaks Leather-Wrapped G4 Smartphone Two Weeks Ahead Of Schedule

It was supposed to be during a scheduled media event on April 28 that LG would show the world its forthcoming G4 handset in all its glory, but then came that awkward moment when some dude who built a following by leaking information and press images to the web ahead of schedule posts a photo of the flagship device on Twitter. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Evan Blass (oh, and also the G4).

Evan Blass, also known by this Twitter handle @evleaks, announced his retirement from the leaked phone photos game back in August of last year. And just like that, smartphone makers could be heard taking a collective sigh of relief, no longer having to worry about their press images landing on the web ahead of schedule. Well, until now.

LG G4 Back

We don't know if Evan Blass is coming out of retirement, but either way, he did take the time to post an image of LG's unreleased G4, along with a link to one of LG's microsites hosting more images. That site has since been taken offline, but the images that were on them have already been plucked -- there are no mulligans in the Internet era.

The pictures confirm a couple of things about the G4, one of them being the curved display similar to the G Flex, though it doesn't appear as pronounced. And secondly, the backside of the device comes wrapped in leather like Ron Burgundy's books that fill his apartment. The leather design was hinted in the in the invitations to the press LG has been sending out.

LG G4

LG's G4 will measure just 8.9mm thick, 75.3mm wide, and 149.1mm tall. Other specs need to be taken with a grain of salt, as it appears that the microsite was simply a placeholder with a table of specifications that hadn't yet been fully updated. For example, it listed the phone as coming with Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and unless LG is determined that its next flagship fall on its face, that has to be wrong.

What we think the LG G4 will come with is, of course, Android 5.0 Lollipop, along with a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560X1440) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked up to 2.5GHz, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 13MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera, and a 3,000 mAh replaceable battery.
