Acer Swift 7 Marries Kaby Lake With Gorgeous, Ultra-Thin 13-inch Unibody Chassis
One of the promises Intel made when launching its Kaby Lake architecture yesterday was that its 7th generation Core processors would allow OEMs to build increasingly thinner and lighter devices. Well, Acer didn't waste any time proving Intel right by today unveiling the Swift 7, the world's first laptop to measure less than 1 centimeter.
This svelte machine has a waistline of only 0.39 inches (9.98mm) while tipping the scale at just 2.48 pounds (1.1kg). Those metrics are a boon for portability, as is the rated battery life of up to 9 hours. Yes, we've seen systems rated to run even longer, but bear in mind there's only so much room for a battery pack inside such a skinny system.
The Swift 7 also brings a fair amount of sex appeal to the Windows 10 camp, at least from the press renders we've seen. Not only is it exceptionally slim, the Swift 7 also sports a unibody aluminum chassis with a black and gold color scheme that's downright luxurious.

"Front and center is the flagship Swift 7 with an all-aluminum chassis that’s less than one centimeter thin, while still packing in performance and stamina for all-day productivity."
Underneath that beauty is a 13.3-inch Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) IPS display with a micro-bezel. It's powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, up to 8GB of memory, and a 256GB solid state drive. You'll also find 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO, two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, and an HD webcam with HDR imaging support.
The Swift 7 will be available in October starting at $999.
