Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Game List Grows By 16

Since launching its "New Xbox One Experience" in mid-November, Microsoft has seen some a great response. Perhaps not surprisingly, it's also found that one of the most-used features of the update is the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. Despite there being a limited number of supported titles, it hasn't stopped players from logging more than 9 million hours to date.

Fortunately for those who yearn for their favorite Xbox 360 game to be supported with this backwards compatibility, Microsoft seems to be working very hard to add support for as many games as it can, and as quickly as possible. Today, the company adds support for 16 titles, bringing the total number to 120.

The majority of the games that just gained support are from Xbox Live Arcade, including Braid, MS. PAC MAN, Spelunky, and Zuma's Revenge. The full-fledged games to gain support are Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Fable III, Halo: Reach, and Kane & Lynch 2.

In addition to being able to play these games on the newer console, gamers are able to take advantage of certain Xbox One features within them, such as Game DVR, screenshots, and streaming to a Windows 10 PC.

On its official FAQ page, one perk mentioned is that all of this is cost-free. "You don't have to pay to play games you already own." Could that possibly be a jab towards Sony, which has just released 8 PS2 games on its PlayStation 4, but charges a staggering $10~$15 for each, rather than let people use the games they already own?

It's hard to say, but we'd bet that most would agree that Microsoft's solution is far more attractive.
