Saints Row IV Sizzles, Tops 1 Million Copies Sold in First Week

Saints Row IV is off to a solid start having sold more than a million copies during its launch week, publisher Deep Silver announced on Thursday. Deep Silver also pointed out that the game's PC release tripled its first week's sales figures over the prior release from THQ, Saints Row: The Third. Not too shabby for a platform that doesn't always get its due respect these days.

"We are incredibly happy of the reception for Saints Row IV as a critical and now a commercial success," said Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of parent company Koch Media. "The development team at Volition is second-to-none as a driving creative force in the entertainment industry and we are very proud to have them as part of the Deep Silver family."

Saints Row IV

Saints Row IV is topping the charts in nearly all major European countries, and is the best selling game in the U.K., Germany, and Benelux on all platforms, Deep Silver says. Helping to boost sales is the fact that the reception has, for the most part, been positive in the media, with Saints Row IV receiving high marks in most reviews.

This is having an effect on Saints Row IV's online community as well. According to Deep Silver, registrations at SaintsRow.com increased by a million in the first week, amounting to more than 1.3 million user accounts for the game in all. These users have contributed more than 800,000 pieces of user-generated content.
