Intel Senior Vice President Mooly Eden And His Trademark Beret Leave Company After 33 Years

Following 33 fruitful years with one of the world's largest semiconductor companies, Shmuel (Mooly) Eden has decided to call it quits at Intel. As so many of these high-ranking departures go, Eden says that he wants to seek out fresh challenges -- whether or not that means he'll wind up somewhere else in a management role, we'll just have to wait and see.

During his tenure at Intel, Eden held a number of important positions, with the most notable being Senior Vice President. He was also the General Manager for Perceptual Computing, and President of Intel Israel. Between 1999 and 2003, he was also the Director and General Manager of Intel Israel's Development Center.

Eden was a lot more than just cool titles, though. He was responsible for leading the group that developed a number of important Intel processors, including Pentium. When mobile struck it big, he was responsible for development of the Pentium M processor, and also Centrino. In 2005, Eden become VP and GM of the Mobile Platforms group, and later in 2009, he led the PC client group, which oversaw platform planning, architecture, and marketing of Intel's desktop and mobile segments.

It goes without saying that Eden's impact at Intel was profound, which the company itself reiterated: "His contribution to the company was huge." Likewise, Eden himself says, "I have had the privilege to lead many Intel groups in a long line of jobs. Beyond that I was privileged to work with creative people who over the years became good friends."
