HP Chromebook 13 Rocks Skylake Power, QHD+ Display And Brushed Aluminum Chassis

Let’s first get this out of the way; you won’t find Intel Core i5, Core i7 or even Core i3 processors under the Chromebook 13’s keyboard. Instead, you’ll find a collection of Core m3, Core m5, and Core m7 processors -- HP even offers up a Pentium 4405Y if you’re so inclined, and no matter which processor you choose you receive Intel HD Graphics 515.

The 2.86-lb Chromebook 13 can be configured with up to 16GB of LPDDR3-1866 memory and comes standard with a 13.3-inch FHD display. But for those that crave more workspace, a QHD+ (3200x1800) display is optional. Only 32GB of eMMC 5.0 storage is included, but you’ll find a digital media reader embedded in the side of the machine for additional storage. Dual speakers with B&O PLAY audio are standard as are two USB-C ports, one USB 3.1 port, an HD TrueVision HD Camera, Bluetooth 4.2, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

The Chromebook 13 can last up to 11.5 hours on a charge and customers can opt to purchase the HP Elite USB-C Docking Station, which adds additional USB ports and support for up to two additional displays. Google has also separately announced a beefed up Citrix Receiver 2.0 for Chrome extension for those that run a lot of Microsoft applications. With the virtualization software, you can remotely run apps from competing platforms — in their own window — directly from within Chrome OS.

HP says that the Chromebook 13 will be available next month with a starting price of $499 directly from HP or from the Chrome for Work site.
