Fans of the original Mirror's Edge will be happy to hear that a follow-up title is in the works, dubbed Mirror's Edge Catalyst. ME Catalyst revisits the dystopian world of the original game with a fresh new story that expands on the origins of protagonist Faith Connors. The beta test just wrapped up last week. It offered a brief window into the look and feel of ME Catalyst, which is the unofficial reboot of the original 2008 parkour adventure from developer EA DICE. Back then, while known primarily for their success with the Battlefield franchise, EA DICE gambled on something completely new with... Read more...
If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the latest installment the Mass Effect series, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer. While speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen made it clear that Mass Effect: Andromeda won’t arrive until around this time next year. “We have our Mirror’s Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter,” said Jorgensen. “So big year ahead and we’re pretty excited.” Jorgensen is referring to EA’s fiscal Q4, which extends... Consumers love freebies. Whether it’s buy one, get one free or just straight up free without any strings attached, people will often flock to a free offer. Such has been the case with Windows 10, which is being offered for free to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. Origin also understands the value of “free”, as it is giving away yet another game via its “On The House” promotion. The latest game to be given away for free is Need for Speed Most Wanted. The open world racing game isn’t exactly hot stuff anymore, as it was first released in October 2012, which seems like ages ago in the PC world. “Hit... Read more...

After teasing us with promises of an open Beta, the company has finally announced the date that Beta will begin: October 8th. The Beta will run from October 8th to the 12th, after which we’ll all be back to impatiently waiting for the official launch of the game, which is set for November 17th. Looks like Electronic Arts is not holding back this year with its sports games. The video game publisher is expecting to make around $1 billion in revenue from downloadable content and is also taking steps to crack down on cheaters for its various sports titles. Madden NFL 15 is one of the key games to EA’s strategy. Aside from players paying $60 for the standard game, EA is pumping out a plethora of add-on content such as Ultimate Team players, jerseys, coaches, playbooks, and stadiums. The Madden Ultimate Team packs, which can be purchased with Madden Points, are a huge moneymaker for EA... Read more...

If you're bored this weekend with a fast Internet connection and some time to kill, EA is offering a free download of Titanfall to everyone, no questions asked, for the next two days. The game is the full version -- you won't have any feature restrictions or locked-off areas. While it's being billed as a weekend offer, that's not the case -- EA has said that you've got 48 hours to play the game from when you first launch it, not just over the next two days. That's a particularly nice offer given that the game weighs in somewhere north of 50GB, with the overwhelming majority of that being uncompressed... Read more...
We've known for several days that EA would unveil a new chapter in the Battlefield universe at E3 2014, but the company has done more than that -- it also launched a surprise beta test for the upcoming Battlefield Hardline. The new game will be an urban cops-and-robbers shootout that drops players into the boots of either side in a more limited form of combat that's likely to focus on closer quarters and tighter objectives than the BF4 maps, some of which are sprawling affairs. The big surprise of E3 was that EA is launching a new closed beta program for PS4 and PC players that you can register... Read more...
Ever since it launched last year, Battlefield 4 has been practically synonymous with how not to launch a major entry to a beloved online franchise. Finally, some of the major flaws are being repaired -- or at least, they've been fixed on the beta Community Test Environment (CTE) server. This is the new server system Dice has set up for PC players that subscribe to Battlefield Premium and they've been rolling out new game changes over the past week. One of the major changes coming to BF4 is an increase in what's called the "tickrate." The term refers to how often the game updates the location of... Read more...
The latest Battlefield 4 game trailer from EA is here, and this one is a single-player story trailer that gives you a taste of the sort of character arc you can expect from the game. The trailer starts out with the evacuation of American VIPs from Shangai and--wouldn’t you know it--things get a little crazy on the way out. (WARNING: Some NSFW language.) We’ve been impressed so far with the videos we’ve seen of the game, and this one is no exception. It looks like there’s a good bit of drama and intriguing characters in the single-player story to go along with the killer... Read more...
