Sony PS4 Update Enabling Remote Play Game Streaming For PC And Mac Arrives Tomorrow
Sony is readying a new update (version 3.5) for the PlayStation 4, one that will introduce the ability to stream games to Windows PCs and Mac systems. The long overdue Remote Play feature brings parity to Microsoft's Xbox One in this regard, the latter of which gained the same functionality last summer.
The ability to stream games to PC was well received pretty much from the get-go on the Xbox One, and barring any hiccups, the same is likely to be true of the PS4. The caveat? You'll need a modern version of Windows (Windows 8.1 or Windows 10) or Mac OS X (OS X 10.10 Yosemite or OS X 10.11 El Capitan). Windows 7 users are out of luck, at least officially.
The default resolution and frame rate for PS4 streaming to PC or Mac is 540p at 30 frames per second, though this is user adjustable, depending on what kind of Internet bandwidth players are working with. Other options for display resolution include 360p and 720p, and there's also a 60 frames per second option to choose from.

Friend notifications and user scheduled events are also packaged into the 3.5 update, as is a Play Together feature that allows all members of a party to see what each person is playing, making it easy to join friend's game or start a new one together.
