Phablet-tastic Galaxy Note 5 Expected At Samsung’s August 13th ‘Unpacked’ Event

Samsung has scheduled its next Galaxy Unpacked event to take place on August 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM ET, with doors opening an hour ahead of time. It will take place in the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York, and it's there that Samsung is widely expected to unveil its newest flagship phablet, the oft-rumored Galaxy Note 5.

The location represents a change in venue from past Galaxy Unpacked events, which have typically taken place at IFA in September. It appears that Samsung is eager to release whatever it has on tap, of which there will be two devices -- very likely the aforementioned Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+, the latter of which is another handset that's been hanging around the rumor mill.

Starting with the Galaxy Note 5 phablet, several websites are posting freshly leaked photos that, if legitimate, means that it will look a lot like the Galaxy S6, but with an S-Pen. Rumor has it the handset will sport Samsung's own Exynos 7422 processor, along with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Moving on to the Galaxy S6 Edge+, it's expected to retain the same internal hardware and features as the regular Galaxy S6 Edge, but sport a bigger 5.5-inch display. There's also a rumor going around that the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be clone of the Galaxy Note 5, only without the stylus and with curved edges.

Either way, we'll have to see how Samsung handles demand. It's Galaxy S6 Edge has proved popular, but it hasn't sold as well as it could due to manufacturing issues -- put simply, supply is falling short of demand.
