Mushkin Teams With Newegg To Launch Fast And Budget-Friendly ECO2 SSDs

If you want a quick and budget-friendly route to speeding up a computer that features an “old hat” hard drive, a solid-state drive is pretty much a no-brainer upgrade. Over the years, the prices for SSDs have steadily fallen while performance has steadily increased — it’s a win-win for everyone. Today, Mushkin is teaming up with online tech retailer Newegg to deliver an “eco-friendly” SSD product family for those looking to breathe new life into older (or budget-spec’d) computers.

Mushkin’s new ECO2 SSD line features a SATA-III interface and a Sandforce SF-2200 flash controller. Mushkin is promising read speeds of up to 550MB/sec and write speeds of up to 535MB/sec (depending on drive capacity). 4KB random writes range from 32,000 IOPS for the 480GB model on up to 86,000 IOPS for the 120GB and 240GB capacities.

“Partnering with Newegg.com is an exciting opportunity for such a product launch,” said Mushkin Director of Global Marketing Nicolas Villalobos. “Together, we are taking performance and value to a new level. The ECO2’s namesake is derived from its innate ECO-friendly upper hand against the traditional hard disk drive, and its ECO-nomical design that enables us to create a product with remarkable value.”

The SSDs are backed by a 3-year warranty and are available in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB storage capacities. All four capacities are in stock and available for shipping priced at $39.99, $54.99, $84.99, and $159.99 respectively.
