Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 Receives Temporary $100 Price Cut

If you were one of the more than 100 million people watching the Super Bowl last night, you no doubt noticed blue Microsoft Surface Pro tablets all over the place. As we covered during the preseason, Microsoft's joined forces with the NFL for five seasons to get Surface Pros into the hands of team coaches and other personnel, for a total of 25 units per team. Ultimately, this is designed to help make sideline strategies a bit easier to manage, and so far it seems to be a well-received addition to the game.

Well, what better time than now to have a sale? Whether you're a Patriots fan still sitting on cloud nine from an unfathomable win, or a Seahawks fan still wondering what the heck happened, Microsoft wants to persuade you to make like an NFL coach and equip yourself with a Surface Pro 3 by knocking $100 off.

Surface Pro

The cheapest of these Surface Pro 3s, priced at $899 after the $100 deduction, includes a 128GB SSD and an Intel Core i5 clocked at 1.9GHz. Perhaps the most attractive model is one equipped with an Intel Core i7 clocked at 1.7GHz, which includes a 256GB SSD. This one is priced at $1,449 with the current sale.

Buying a notebook based on those two simple specs would be a little foolish, so you'll want to spend a few moments looking at the specs table to see what else changes from model to model. Only the 256GB+ models include 8GB of RAM (versus 4GB), for example, and on the Core i7 models, you also get a more modern graphics chip (Intel 5000, versus 4400).

Admittedly, $100 off of notebooks that cost well over $1,000 isn't a major sale, but if you've been in the market for a Surface Pro 3 anyway, this sale should speak to you.
