LG V10 Android Superphone And Urbane Smartwatch Leak Ahead Of Reveal, Dual Displays, Dual Selfie Cams
It seems LG couldn't contain their enthusiasm any longer and announced their new products a day ahead of their NYC event. The new flagship, dubbed the V10, is really looking to double-down on just about everything with two screens and dual front-facing cameras.
The second screen sits just above the main QHD display to act as a ticker for notifications, weather, the time, and more. The smaller screen keeps you in the loop without any impact in battery life, according to LG. When the phone is in use, the 2.1 inch 160 x 1040 ticker becomes a multitasking hub which provides quick access to your favorite apps. The idea is not unfamiliar as Samsung likes to tout the ticker functions of their own Galaxy S6 Edge and Edge+ family of phones.
LG also claims their two front facing cameras can act in tandem to create a stitched together selfie or "groufie" photo with an impressive 120 degree field of view. Hopefully the stitching process is fast enough for everyone's Snapchats to flow smoothly. Of course, you may pair that down to a single camera with an 80 degree FOV as desired. LG also wants to show off a "Steady Record" feature to stabilize video from their main shooter and manual controls have been extended to the camcorder functions as well. Paired with improved directional microphones, this promises to be an excellent option for users who want to easily create and share content on the go.
The rest of their announcement rounds out the specs with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 5.7" QHD IPS Quantum display, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 64GB of onboard eMMC storage, a microSD slot and a 3000 mAh removable battery. Also making a return are the G series' rear mounted buttons, which make for a love-em or hate-em design and usage experience. The inclusion of a microSD slot and removable battery are sure to please many prospective buyers in an age when most other OEMs have chopped down and locked up their devices for the sake of a thinner profile.

It packs its own nano-SIM card so you can leave your phone at home if desired and stay connected. In addition to the usual Android Wear controls, LG has added three buttons to grant fast access to apps and contacts.
Specs for the Urbane include a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor with 768MB of RAM, a round 1.38 inch P-OLED display at 480x480 and a 570 mAh battery, plus a slew of the usual sensors. It remains to be seen how the battery fares when powering a cellular radio, but 570 mAh should give it a decent start compared with the new Moto 360's 300 mAh and 400 mAh variants.
