AT&T Brings Unlimited Wireless Calls To Mexico For An Additional $5 Per Month

AT&T is wasting no time taking advantage of its acquisition of Mexican wireless service provider Iusacell. Last week’s buyout paved the way for AT&T to announce today that its international calling package, AT&T World Connect Value, now includes unlimited calling from the U.S. to any number in Mexico. There's no additional charge, and mobile numbers are included as well.

"We’re always looking for opportunities to show our appreciation to our customers," said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility. "Mexico is the most frequently dialed country among our wireless customers—and now they can call as much as they want with our enhanced World Connect Value package."

AT&T's package runs just $5 a month per line, making it a great bargain for anyone with relatives or friends living in Mexico. The World Connect Value package also sports low-rate calling from the U.S. to over 225 countries, including Canada, which runs $0.01 per minute.

It was just a few days ago that AT&T, the second largest wireless carrier in the U.S., completed the acquisition of Iusacell, which opened up the opportunity for unlimited calling to Mexico. Iusacell boasts 70 percent coverage of Mexico's population.

The announcement also follows recent price hikes to several other territories. At the end of December, AT&T increased per-minute rate calling rates to Latin American and Caribbean countries from $0.01 to $0.05 per minute or $0.20 per minute, depending on the country.
