$100 Price Cut On Microsoft Surface Pro Is Permanent

When Microsoft debuted its Surface Pro tablets, the devices seemed great--except for the eye-popping price tags--which is something that Microsoft eventually acknowledged by way of temporarily cutting the cost of the 64GB and 128GB Surface Pros by $100. (Microsoft also slashed the price of the Surface RT by $150.) Now, the Surface Pro price cut is permanent.

The company told Neowin that the 64GB and 128GB versions will indeed henceforth cost $799 and $899 respectively. The 256GB version gets a $100 price cut, too. Further, Touch Covers will cost $40 less than before, so you can snag one for $79.

Microsoft also slashed $50 off of Surface RT bundles, which will now start at $399.

Competing with the like of the iPad seems to be more difficult than perhaps Microsoft anticipated. Dropping prices is a good part of that strategy.
