Evolve Is Free To Play This Weekend On Xbox One and PC

Labor Day Weekend is upon us, which for many students marks the last few days of freedom before school starts up again. How will you spend them? If you're having trouble answering that question, then here's a heads up that Evolve is playable at no cost this weekend on Xbox One consoles and Windows PCs (check out our gameplay and performance review).

You get full access to everything the game has to offer -- four monsters, 18 hunters across four unique classes, five game modes, 19 maps, and the newly released Hunt 2.0, which introduces improvements to the matchmaking, overall user experience, and revamped leaderboards while playing Hunt mode.

Evolve

Publisher 2K Games isn't being stingy with its weekend hours, either. PC gamers have been able to access Evolve for free since 12:00 PM PDT on September 3, 2015 and can continue to play at no cost until 10:00 AM PDT on September 7. For Xbox One gamers, free access started at 12:01 AM PDT on September 4 and runs until 11:59 PM PDT on September 7. And PlayStation 4 owners? They're mostly out of luck.

We say "mostly" because along with Xbox One and PC players, PS4 players who already own Evolve can try out the currently available DLC characters for free.

"Starting at 12:01 AM PDT on September 4, 2015 all Evolve players will gain access to the playable characters included in Evolve Hunting Season 1 and the playable Behemoth Monster for 24 hours. Starting at 12:01 AM PDT on September 5, 2015, all Evolve players will gain access to the available playable characters from Evolve Hunting Season 2 for 24 hours," 2K Games said.

As a bonus, the Meteor Goliath character will be made permanently available to all Evolve players free of charge. If you don't own the game but decide to purchase it after the pro bono period ends, you'll retain all progress you've made in the base game.
